Mr Savage, the Postman, delivered letters from Chesterfield, returning home at tea-time. During the day he did boot and shoe repairs. The sign on the house corner reads “Post Office” and was across the road from the more recent Post Office location. In the 1950’s, this house belonged to the Newsagent and popular comics such as the “Beano” and “Film Fun” were displayed in the window. (Photograph c1900, from Frank Fisher’s collection).
